General
What is strike nursing?
  1. Strike nursing is crucial to maintaining patient care. Strike nurses and strike allied healthcare professionals fill in gaps during labor disruptions for healthcare systems.
What is the best company to work with to find strike nursing jobs?

HSG Strike Staffing is a leading nursing and allied strike staffing agency. Our recruiters will work to find the best strike nursing job for each candidate. We’ll explain every detail of the process, including assignments, geographies and timeframes, and we’re always available to answer any questions.

How long is a typical strike nursing assignment?

There is no standard duration for a strike nursing job. It could be one day, five days or even an indefinite timeframe. Flexibility and patience are important traits for anyone who is interested in strike nursing.

What can I expect during a nursing strike?

The hospital is desperate for help and flexibility is the key to success. Strike nurses can often be expected to work up to five or six 12-hour shifts in a week. It is highly unlikely nurses will be able to request certain shifts, as the goal is for a nurse to fill in where needed.

Nursing strikes can be quite tense. It is important to remember that while you may have a great deal of empathy for your fellow nurses as you cross the picket line, strike nurses have a responsibility to the patients inside, and their need for care doesn’t stop due to labor disputes.

Is the allied health strike staffing process the same as the strike nurse staffing process?

Yes, and it’s quite simple! Browse current available strike jobs and nominate yourself for the job you’re interested in. A recruiter will be in contact with you if you’re a potential match.

Do I need to pass a drug test?

You must pass a drug screen of the ten controlled substances before working, including Marijuana. If you take any prescribed medications where you believe you may test positive on a 10-panel drug test, you must notify a recruiter and arrange your drug screen more than 72 hours before your travel date. If you have prescribed medications, please be prepared to present your Doctor’s recommendation, as well as the prescription bottle for review.

Do I need to bring my car to drive to the facility?

HSG Strike Staffing will provide transportation to the check-in location as well as optional daily transportation to the facility for the duration of the event. Instructions for connection with our transportation team after landing will be provided after confirmation of your Itinerary.

Will I be provided accomodations?

Hotel accommodations will be provided at no cost to you for the duration of the event.

When will I receive my itinerary?

Your travel itinerary should be booked and available to you approximately 72 hours before your travel date.

What happens if I arrive and the strike settles before I work?

If the strike is canceled before you work, you will receive the settlement fee as long as your travel has already commenced. This fee will be paid within 7 days after the date of cancellation.

What if I am not compliant by my start date?

100% compliance will be required in order to start the assignment. In the event, you are not compliant by your desired start date you will be canceled.

Great Income
How much does strike nursing pay? Are there other perks?

HSG Strike Staffing consistently meets or exceeds the rates paid by other strike nursing agencies. The pay for specialties will vary based on the hospital and geographical area. Depending on specialty, an assignment could pay the highest in the industry. As we place nurses based on need and demand, you will be paid based on the specialty you are scheduled to work in and not the highest specialty you are qualified for.

Other perks of strike nursing include roundtrip transportation to and from the assignment destination and housing accommodations as well as daily per diems while on assignment.

How will I get paid?

Payment methods will vary by state, as we pay in accordance to state laws. Examples of payment methods include a standard paycheck or a daily-funded payment card.

How to qualify for Guaranteed Work Week (GWW) pay?

Guarantee Hours are paid at the regular rate of pay. Guarantee Hours are paid through a reconciliation process and paid within 7 days after the end of each pay week.

To receive the GWW for a work event you are required to be available and eligible to work all assigned hours, guaranteed hours do not mean guaranteed pay.

What if my shift is called off, how will I get paid?

If you call off your shift for any reason, you will not be eligible for the GWW pay. If for some reason HSG Strike Staffing/Facility is unable to schedule you for the guaranteed hours, you will be paid those hours if you were available to work. At the end of the strike event, all hours worked (Regular, Over-time, Double-time, Call Back hours worked) will be trued up to the GWW.)
